French President Emmanuel Macron, Sunday assure President Bola Tinubu of his support as Nigeria continue to fight insurgency and terror.
Mr. Macron and Tinubu had been strong allies, and the French President made it clear after speaking with Tinubu is throwing in French might in the battle to rid Nigeria of sponsored criminal elements in the north and central parts of the country that has been most affected.
“I spoke with President Tinubu of Nigeria, @officialABAT,” Macron wrote on his X social media platform Sunday.
“I conveyed France’s solidarity in the face of the various security challenges, particularly the terrorist threat in the North.
“At his request, we will strengthen our partnership with the authorities and our support for the affected populations. We call on all our partners to step up their engagement.
“No one can remain a spectator.”
President Tinubu following the escalation of kidnapping and killings by the terror gangs, last week declared state of emergency over the security situation in the country, ordered massive recruitment of police and military personnel and also appointed General Christopher Musa as new defence minister.
