Nollywood actress Rita Daniels and mother of Regina Daniels last weekend narrowly lost the Actor Guilds of Nigeria top chair to Abubakar Yakubu.
Rita Daniels lost 113-116 to Yakubu who is the AGN national secretary before the elections held in Benin City Edo State.
Yakubu’s victory makes him the first Northern actor to lead AGN since its establishment in 1990s. The loss marks another political setback for Daniels, who previously contested the PDP primary for the Aniocha South Constituency in 2022, securing only one vote.
Rita Daniels was highly favoured to win the election, but some votes that could have gone her way were recorded invalid.
Outgoing AGN president Emeka Rollas and his pals must be having a good laugh, before the elections he had disparaged Rita Daniels, urging her to go and take care of her daughter, whom he alleged to be on drugs and needed rehab.
