Fulham coach Marco Silva said he is at sea about how to handle losing three of his key players who will be away with Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations starting January 21 in Morocco.
The trio of Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Calvin Bassey will play their last game in December for Fulham against Burnley on Saturday and then miss five more games if the Super Eagles go all the way to final of the AFCON billed for January 17, 2026. Fulham are 15th on table with 17 points.
“We are talking about three starting XI players. We know Alex is a key player in any position he plays. The importance of Calvin, and what Chukwueze has been doing in recent games. You have to find solutions. If you know any other way to handle it [AFCON], let me know,” said Silva.
However, the Portuguese born coach added: “We knew it was going to happen. We will not panic about its impact.”
