Former Chelsea defender William Gallas said the London club is missing the services of an experience striker as they continue to struggle to score goals.
Gallas believes Chelsea missed out when they looked the other way as Galatasaray pulled all the stops to sign Victor Osimhen in the summer from Napoli on a permanent basis.
Despite the push by former Chelsea greats Didier Drogba and John Mikel Obi to have their former club sign Osimhen, the Blues hierarchy were not interested due to the high wage demand of the player. They opted for Joan Pedro and Liam Delap who have so far failed to deliver, while Osimhen in Turkey with his performance reminds Chelsea, they goofed by failing to sign him when given two different opportunities.
“To be honest, Chelsea, at the moment, I think they are missing one experienced player, and a player who can put Chelsea really on top for me is Victor Osimhen,” Gallas told OLBG.
“I wanted to see him sign for Chelsea. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. But yeah, my dream is to see him play for Chelsea because with his quality, I think he can adapt to Chelsea perfectly.”
Chelsea have slipped to fifth place in the Premier League table, and they face an uphill battle to secure automatic qualification to the Champions League last-16 following the aforementioned loss against Atalanta.
