Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina... Forest United.

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has urged Nigerians to support the national team in their campaign at the 2025 African Cup of Nations starting December 21.
Awoniyi who has been absent from the Super Eagles due to injuries was speaking against the background of reservations made by Nigerian fans on list of players selected by coach Eric Chelle.
“It is always a great list no matter the player that gets on the list. Not everyone can be on the list. That’s what every player needs to accept and that’s what the country also needs to know,” Awoniyi said during chat with Channels TV
“Once the coach brings out the list, the coach knows what he wants, he has seen the players, and he made the decision and everyone needs to accept it and the whole country just needs to support the boys and give them the maximum support they need and hopefully and by God’s grace the cup will be ours.”
Meanwhile his teammate Ola Aina made a dramatic comeback from injury featuring for Nottingham Forest reserves in their 2-1 win over Millwall.
Aina was injured during the South Africa, Nigeria World Cup qualifier in September and Friday night was his first time of kicking a ball. It was believed that he could be in the Super Eagles team to the Africa Cup of Nations, but he was omitted from the final 28-man list.
Nigeria will open their AFCON account Tanzania on December 23, before facing Tunisia on December 27 and wrapping up the group stage against Uganda on December 30 in group C.
