Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) founder, Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo, has predicted that presidential aspirant, Peter Obi may not fare well in the 2027 elections.
Obi a former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, according to Pastor Ashimolowo will need a miracle to win, most especially in the northern part of the country.
“The chance of Peter Obi getting five per cent in 12 core Northern states will be a miracle because Nigeria has not healed,” said Ashimolowo while speaking in an interview with Outside the Box podcast.
“He is a fantastic man, he is a gifted man, he could do well, he could achieve, he has proven himself but he can’t win 5 per cent in the north.”
Obi was a popular candidate in the 2023 elections, but according to the Independent National Electoral Commission result he came third behind incumbent President Bola Tinubu of the All-Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar.
In the eyes of many political observers the result of the election did not reflect the pattern of voting by Nigerians, they believe Obi who won in Lagos State the strong hold of President Tinubu might have won the election.
However, Obi’s path to the 2027 election remains unclear. He is being courted by the Africa Democratic Congress a collation of former Peoples Democratic Party members and other politicians who are united in their resolve to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.
Besides the collation of youths, the “Obidient Movement,” which propelled him in 2023 seem to have run out of steam.
