Defender Calvin Bassey said his club Fulham will cope without him, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze when they are gone with the Super Eagles to Morocco for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Bassey reminded coach Marco Silva what he would be missing Saturday night, when he scored in their 3-2 away win at Burnley. Chukwueze provided the assist for their last goal.
“We just try to give our best and we’re fortunate to be playing for Fulham,” Bassey said.
“If you see our squad, you’d know we have amazing players. We’ll be missed, but they’ll be fine.”
Iwobi has held the midfield for Fulham this season, starting all 16 Premier League games, while Bassey has made 15 starts at centre-back. His goal was his first this season.
Chukwueze who is on loan from AC Milan, has established himself as a regular starter after a series of impactful performances from the bench.
Should Nigeria, three-time AFCON champions, advance to the final, the trio could miss up to eight matches for Fulham, these games include against top opponents like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle United.
