TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat a.k.a Peller will be charged to court for reckless driving by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Peller crashed his crashed his car while reportedly live streaming his breakup with girlfriend Jarvis.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed said in a statement signed by spokesperson of the organisation Olusegun Ogunbemide, the reckless behaviour by some celebrities and social media influencers on Nigerian roads was unbecoming, saying that the act was dangerous and illegal, and could have caused loss of lives.
“The corps marshal has directed the Lagos State sector commander to immediately activate all necessary processes for the prosecution of the individual involved for reckless driving, use of phone while driving and distracted driving, in accordance with extant traffic laws,” said the statement.
“This incident, which could have resulted in loss of lives, serves as a grim reminder that fame does not confer immunity from the law, nor does it excuse dangerous behaviour on public roads,” the corps said.
Mohammed also called on entertainment bodies and influencer groups to take responsibility for their members.
He urged them to promote responsible behaviour and help discourage dangerous conduct on the roads.
