Liverpool are optimistic the injury suffered by striker Alexander Isak will not keep him out of action for a long period.
Isak came off the bench to score his second Premier League goal of season for Liverpool as they beat Tottenham 2-1 on Saturday, but he was forced out due to leg injury.
The 26-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Newcastle in a record Premier League £125m deal in September, went for MRI scans on Sunday to determine the extent of the damage.
It is understood those scans will determine an exact timeframe on how long Isak will be sidelined.
Asked about the injury on Saturday, Liverpool boss Arne Slot said: “We’ll have to wait and see.
“But if a player scores and then gets injured and doesn’t try to come back on the pitch, that’s usually not a good thing.”
It would be a blow to Liverpool if Isak is ruled off for a significant period of time.
Liverpool have had a hard time this season and have recently found their rhythm. With Mo Salah off to the African Cup of Nations with Egypt the Reds will sweat for a replacement.
