A man Eghosa Osarietinomwam who returned home from Europe to open his new house in Oben community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, has been murdered by his childhood friend.
According to the Edo State Police Command spokesperson ASP Eno Ikoedem the suspected killer Amadin William is under arrest and facing interrogation.
Mr. William was said to have lured Osarietinomwam from where he was celebrating the opening of his new house on December 22, 2025 and inflicted machete cuts on him.
“The deceased sustained deep machete cuts on the neck after stepping out to ease himself during the house-warming celebration,” ASP Ikoedem.
“He was rushed to the hospital for treatment, where he was confirmed dead.
“The suspect, after committing the crime, absconded and went into hiding but was tracked and arrested on December 27.
“Meanwhile, two other persons have been arrested in connection with the arson that followed the incident,” she said.
Angered by the killing youths in the community set ablaze the home of the suspect, while the family of the deceased mourned Christmas tragedy.
