Chelsea reputed for having zero patience for underperforming managers have shown Enzo Maresca the exit door after going three matches without a win.
Maresca who led Chelsea to winning UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025 had struggle to keep the club in hunt the for the Premier League title, but they sit in fifth place.
“Chelsea Football Club and head coach Enzo Maresca have parted company,” the London club said in a statement on Thursday.
“During his time at the club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the club.
“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.
“We wish Enzo well for the future.”
Maresca named the Premier League manager for the month of November seem to have fallen out favour with the Chelsea board following his comments after the win against Everton saying: “the previous 48 hours had been his “worst since I joined the club, because many people didn’t support us”.
According to reports Maresca was also eyeing the Manchester City job, if his mentor Pep Guardiola does not continue after his contract expires in 2027 and had spoken to City executives about his desire to return to City, where he was, before joining Leicester City and then Chelsea.
