An attempt by a mother and her son to use a 10-year-old boy for money ritual have landed them in police detention after suspicious neighbours blew the whistle on them.
The suspects, identified as Maria, 53, and her son, Adewale, 28, were apprehended in Ile-Oluji, the headquarters of Ile-Oluji/Oke Igbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Ondo Police spokesperson, SP Abayomi Jimoh said in a statement Saturday the mother and son were arrests on December 27, 2025, following credible intelligence received from members of the public.
The suspects allegedly conspired to engage the services of an herbalist to carry out a money ritual involving the child.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that Maria conspired with her son, Adewale, to engage the services of an herbalist to use the victim for money ritual. The suspects are currently in police custody, where they reportedly confessed to the crime.”
“The child has since been taken to a hospital for medical examination and care.”
