A 55-years-old man identified as Ademola Joshua has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly impregnating his sister’s 15-year-old daughter.
According to the police Mr. Joshua had on many occasions engaged in sexual acts with the minor and when it was noticed by her parents, she was pregnant, she pointed accusing fingers at her uncle.
Ondo State police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said on Monday, that the incident was reported to the command on January 4 by one Adewale of Ilara-Mokin.
“Upon receipt of this disturbing report, the case was immediately referred to the Gender-Based Violence Unit of the command for discreet and thorough investigation.
“The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
“Meanwhile, the command reiterates its unwavering commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women and children.
“It is also to ensure that perpetrators of sexual and gender-based violence are made to face the full weight of the law without compromise,” he said.
