Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle still savouring the 2-0 win over Algeria’s Foxes, said the pressure will be on Morocco, when they meet Nigeria in the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday.
The Atlas Lions though have not been convincing, but they have grinded out results that put them in frame to be crown champions in front of their home crowd. But it seems their major obstacle is the Super Eagles who have so far dominated their games with commanding performances.
Speaking in Marrakesh after the win against Algeria coach Chelle said: “Morocco is a strong team, and there will be pressure in front of the host nation. The best team will win. I am proud that we will face Morocco, and I hope it will be a good match, with the best team winning.”
He said the win against Algeria was a result of the hard work the team has put in.
” I have worked a lot since taking over my role with the Nigerian national team; we put in a lot of effort during preparations. My vision has been implemented in the Nigerian team, and we must continue working in this manner.
Meanwhile Algeria coach Vladimir Petković acknowledged that his team was outclassed.
“Nigeria was better than us. We were missing a lot of things. We wanted to control the game, but the opponent was strong and prevented us from doing so. The Nigerian team showed the individual skills they possess, and physically we were behind. We tried to come back in the second half, but we couldn’t reach the level we wanted in attack.”
