Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle said his team is ready to play and win against Morocco in Wednesday’s semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat.
Speaking Tuesday ahead of the game Chelle said the Super Eagles had played every match of the 2025 AFCON like it was a final game and against highly rated Morocco’s Atlas Lions, it would not be different approach.
“Every game is the biggest for the team (Super Eagles) in the tournament. We are ready for all of the games in this tournament. We like to play every game like it is the last,” Chelle said.
He noted that all the players in the squad of the Super Eagles are capable of handling pressure and playing at the highest level and that makes the job easy for him.
“When you have African Player of Year winners in your squad, it is very easy.
“The coach has to make choices. I have to validate choices made, so when you have players who have won the African best, it is very easy. So, it’s left for each player to fit into the team.”
He noted that Wilfred Ndidi will be missed in the game having picked up two yellow on the way to the semi-finals.
“It is disappointing for me because he brings so much to the team,” stated Chelle. “But in our group, there are good players who can replace him. I am very confident about that. Everything will be good.”
Meanwhile his Moroccan counterpart Walid Regragui said having reached the semi-final for the first time in many AFCONs there was no going back for the Atlas Lions.
“We continue to prepare for the semifinal after reaching this stage for the first time in years. We face a strong team, but we are ready to win and reach the final,” Regraui enthused.
He acknowledged that the game might go either and he was not afraid of being sacked from his job.
