Jibril Africana keeps on pushing for more boundaries his quest to make his brand of music Afro-folk fusion dominate the music scene, by dropping two singles “Reason” and “Paradise fade “on Saturday January 17.
Afro-folk fusion is a blend of Afrobeats and folk music, which Africana disclosed has been gaining more acceptance than he expected and to prove it, his show during the Christmas holiday period in Ikorodu was sold out.
“It is very encouraging how fans are welcoming Afro-folk fusion, and what more encouragement do I need to keep dishing out more songs and spreading the gospel of Afro-folk fusion,” said the young up and coming artist.
“Reason” delivered in Patois and English is a call to love one another, solidify unity and sow good seeds for the next generation. It reflects on societal challenges but inspires change and hope.
Africana sings: “I am the reason to make a change today,
“You are the reason to show love and lead the way.
No more hate, no more war,
Time fi open every door.”
“Paradise” is rendered in Yoruba, Pidgin and Patois is a soulful reflection on love, jealousy, and resilience. It tells the story of relationships tested by envy, while staying strong and positive.
“Paradise don fade (yeah yeah),
Love wey sweet don stray (eh eh),
Jealousy don shade (oh no),
Mi still dey stand, but mi heart dey break.”
Africana disclosed that the listening party for the songs and other performances is billed for January 24, 2026 at the Tipsy Lounge, Akoka, Lagos.
