A group supporting former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Atiku Haske Organisation has cut ties with Abba Atiku Abubakar, following his defection to the All-Progressives Congress.
Abba Atiku Abubakar is the son of 2o27 African Democratic Congress presidential hopeful who was politically embarrassed last week Thursday, when Abba Atiku teamed with the APC. The APC hierarchy mocked Atiku over his son’s political choice.
In a scathing rebuttal issued in Abuja on Sunday, the group’s initiator and convener, Mai Nagge Bakari, clarified that Abba was an invited guest rather than a founding member. He emphasized that the group is not a personal tool for the Atiku family to trade between political parties.
“We founded the Atiku Haske Organisation and merely invited Abba to join the group. He has neither contributed a naira to the activities of the organisation nor possesses its certificate of registration,” Bakari stated.
“We are therefore under no obligation to adhere to any directive issued by him. On the contrary, he is subject to our regulations and has fallen short of our expectations. He has accordingly been dismissed as a member,” he added.
The group reiterated its loyalty to the senior Atiku’s political objectives while seeking a new platform in the ADC: “The Atiku Haske Organisation is not a party to, nor interested in, defecting to any political party other than the African Democratic Congress. We were formerly in the PDP and resolved collectively to move to the ADC,” the statement clarified.
“What Abba has done is contrary to our resolutions, values and principles, and he is hereby expelled from the organisation. We remain resolute in our conviction that His Excellency Atiku Abubakar is the best candidate to advance our objectives,” Bakari noted.
