Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde said President Bola Tinubu’s administration is unapproachable, uncooperative and unyielding unlike the administration of Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr. Makinde who was speaking during a political gathering in Ibadan noted that Buhari’s regime had a more consultative approach to handling national issues, but it was difficult to speak the truth to President Tinubu.
Makinde who was speaking against the background of Tinubu’s tax reforms stated: “You cannot speak truth to power in this dispensation. We have a situation in this dispensation; it was the tax bill, and we said, ‘Look, bring the tax bill; bring it back; let us all have an opportunity to look dispassionately at it.’
“They said the tax bill will go ahead. It is an affront for even the governors to be saying what the Presidency has done to send the tax bill to the National Assembly. The tax bill, we don’t know what was passed at the National Assembly, we don’t also know what was signed up,” he said.
The event drew dignitaries including the immediate past Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who’s style of leadership the governor said he missed.
Makinde stated that in the Buhari era his Vice President was prolific in his handling of the nation’s economic affairs. Osinbajo chaired the National Economic Council (NEC) council meeting at the behest of the President. Members of the Council include 36 state governors.
