US President Donald Trump took his beef with former US President Barrack Obama to a new low when he shared a video depicting Obama and his wife as monkeys on his social media.
According to reports by various media, President Trump posted a video on his Truth Social claiming that Dominion Voting Systems, a vote-counting company, manipulated the results of the 2020 election, leading to his defeat by former U.S. President Joe Biden.
At the end of the 1-minute video features a scene where the faces of former President Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, are superimposed onto monkey bodies. Comparing Black people to monkeys is a classic form of racial discrimination.
Gavin Newsom, the California governor often mentioned as a potential Democratic presidential candidate, called it a “disgusting act” and said, “All Republicans must immediately condemn this.”
Ben Rhodes, a former deputy national security advisor to the National Security Council (NSC) and a close aide to former President Obama, also wrote on social media, “While future Americans will remember the Obamas as beloved figures, Trump will be studied as a stain on history,” adding, “This fact will forever haunt Trump and his racist followers.”
Since the start of his second term, President Trump has used AI-generated fake images and videos to attack or mock his critics.
Last year, President Trump posted an AI-generated video on Truth Social showing former President Obama being arrested in the Oval Office, wearing an orange prison uniform and behind bars.
President Trump also posted an AI video showing Democratic Congressman Hakim Jeffries, who is Black, wearing a fake mustache and a sombrero, a traditional Mexican hat, drawing criticism for racism.
