Coventry coach Frank Lampard has hailed the impact of Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka and he made his debut against Middleborough in the English Championship on Monday night.
The 28-year-old Onyeka helped Coventry to a 3-1 win over their title rivals to boost their chances of moving up to the Premier League. Though Onyeka picked on a yellow card, he maintained his composure and balance in the game.
Lampard revealed his admiration for the Africa Cup of Nations bronze medalist: “He was outstanding.
“His timing in pressing, his strength in challenges and the quality he showed on the ball were top level. For someone stepping into that kind of match for his debut, it was a big performance. I’m very pleased with him.”
“It was a massive performance from him, and he gets a booking; it’s never a booking,” Lampard said.
“I’m thinking, if he tires, is he going to come off? But I thought he dealt with that situation well.”
