Nigeria’s former international athlete Princess Mabel Madojiemu has won a different kind of gold medal in Sydney Australia.
The amiable Princess Mabel will be getting married to her long-time partner Andrew on March 7, 2026, in Sydney where she has resided since 2006.
“Andy has a heart of gold, a perfect gentleman and I’m glad we have taken our relationship to a higher level,” Princess Mabel said in a chat.
The former national 400m champion has been to Nigeria with Andrew several times to the warm welcome of her relatives in Igueben Edo State; and they have all send their kind wishes, since a good number may not make the trip “Down Under.”
Princess Mabel Madojiemu an Olympian at the 2004 in Athens, Greece has always pushed for the development of grassroots athletics talents and to show her commitment; she single handled sponsored the Princess Mabel Madojiemu Schools Athletics Championships.
This competition has opened doors for so many athletes who are currently representing Nigeria at various level, they include long jumper Prestina Oshonoghor, hurdler Faith Osamuyi, sprinter Anita Enaruna and high jumper Treasure Omosivwe.
Princess Madojiemu herself was discovered in the Under-18 Yinka Folawiyo Championship back in the mid 1990s and she went on to establish herself in the women 400m. She was part of the Nigeria team to the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne Australia.
