Sergio Ramos presented Colombian singer Shakira with the ‘Best Song of the Year’ award at last night’s Latin Grammys, which happens to be her diss track about former partner Gerard Pique.
Ramos a former centre back for Real Madrid, just like Pique in Barcelona was a guest at the Latin Grammy award in Seville and had no qualms presenting the award to the former wife of his El Clasico rival.
Back in June last year, Shakira and Pique announced their split after an 11-year relationship.
A joint statement read: “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our top priority, we ask for respect for our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”
Shakira would later open up about her separation from Pique, referring to the grieving period as “the darkest hours of my life.”
She added: “I’ve remained quiet and just tried to process it all. It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye.”
The 46-year-old would also release a song in January this year that featured a series of digs at the former Barcelona defender.
Several months later and Shakira picked up the song of the year and pop song of the year for Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.
Her collab on TQG with Karol G also won the best urban and fusion performance at this week’s Latin Grammys, but it was special guest Sergio Ramos that got people talking online.
