Victor Osimhen Monday night was crowned CAF African player of the year at the 2023 awards held in Marrakech, Morocco.
It was the first time a Nigerian player would be winning the award since 1999, when Nwankwo Kanu last won it.
Osimhen was picked ahead of Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Mohamed Salah of Egypt.
Expectedly Assist Oshoala picked up her sixth CAF African woman player of the year to become the first African woman to achieve the feat.
Oshoala beat South Africa’s Thembi Klagtlana and Zambia’s Barbara Banda to the awards
Super Falcons keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie won the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, while
The Super Falcons won the National Team of the Year award.
