First Lady Oluremi Tinubu said she has been saddened by the killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a 400-level biological science student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, and others who were kidnapped by gunmen in Abuja communities.
The gunmen, irked by the slow pace of the families of the kidnap victims to pay up the ransom, killed Naheeha, Folorunsho Ariyo a 13-year-old high school student and one other kid. The hoodlums then increased the ransom from N60m perhead for the 11 persons in their custody and on Monday they reportedly hike it to N100m with the threat to kill the hostages if the ransom was not paid before Wednesday.
Commenting on the situation in her X page Senator Tinubu lamented: “It is with a heavy heart that I acknowledge the devastating loss of Nabeeha and extend my deepest condolences to her grieving family.
“In difficult moments like this, I urge the nation to join in fervent prayers for the safe return of these girls. Let us hold the families close to our hearts in prayers.
“I implore our security agencies to intensify their efforts in addressing the pressing matter of kidnappings and insecurity in our nation.
FCT police spokesperson Josephine Adeh stated that the security agencies are doing all the can to rescue the girls urging that members of the public should remain calm and vigilant.
Meanwhile residents of the Estate where the family members were kidnapped on January 7, have resolved to embark on a protest following the inability of the government to stop the incessant cases of kidnapping in their community.
