Afrobeats star David Adeleke a.k.a Davido, is seeking an out-of-court settlement after he was slammed with a N2 billion damages suit for his no show at the Warri Again concert in October 2023.
Brownhill Investment Company owned by former Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick dragged the ‘Unavailable’ crooner before a Delta High Court sitting in Effurun wanting compensation for a breach of contract and also a defamation claim against Davido.
In arguments before trial judge Wednesday, Justice Nduka Obi, Davido’s counsel submitted that the damages claim was a debt recovery case and Brownhill Investment Company did not demand for a refund. And in the defamation suit Davido’s team argued that the court did not have a jurisdiction to hear the case.
The court dismissed Davido’s objections claiming jurisdiction to hear the case and also rejected Davido’s submission that it was a debt recovery case.The court then adjourned for further hearing in the case.
It was gathered that Brownhill Investment Company rejected the out-of-court settlement request made by Davido, because its terms and conditions did not favour the concert organisers.
