Top Officials of Vision 2020 International Tennis Academy in Lagos have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to give it moral and financial backing for their planned Tennis development programme holding soon at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Technical Director of Vision 2020 International Tennis Academy, Oladipo Thompson Ewetuga said the age grade tennis carnival featuring several age grade players from different parts of the country would ensure unveiling and moulding of promising Tennis players, if President Tinubu approved the proposal already forwarded to him.
Ewetuga who said they are cocksure of a massive Tennis revolution that could be sustained appealed passionately that the President’s track record of providing unique platforms for youths should support their dream of producing young and talented Tennis players.
“Mr. President is noted for his youth empowerment initiatives and Tennis could be a large platform to accommodate budding talents. Vision 2020 International Tennis Academy Founded in 1992 is on the verge of stimulating and realizing dream of providing the next generation of Tennis stars at the planned Tennis carnival.
“We have actually reached out to our President through another youth empowerment leader. Mr. Babajide Sanwo Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State. It’s out fervent hope that the vision 2020 Tennis carnival would lead to the birth of other Tennis Academies in other parts of the country”, said Ewetuga whose body had organized Tennis Programmes in Lagos and Banjul, Gambia before now.
While expressing gratitude to the Nigeria Tennis Federation for approving the grass root development programme, Ewetuga is of the belief that young Tennis players need this kind of developmental programme to realize their dreams of being world beaters.
