Jumper Grace Oshiokpu is at cross roads over her participation in the African Games billed for March in Accra, Ghana.
Oshiokpu a freshman at the Texas Tech School, USA is looking forward to appear in the big stage after dominating the African junior scene in the long jump and triple jump. But her showcasing her athletics prowess at the Games is now in doubt.
“I don’t know if my school will release me for the African Games,” said the young athlete during a chat.
“In March the school would be in the tick of NCAA competitions and so I have no idea yet what is going to happen concerning the African Games.”
That not withstanding Oshiokpu said she is concentrating on her train as she was determined to improve on her personal bests of 6.35m LJ and 13.10m TJ.
“Training is good and so enjoyable and so I am going to keep working to make sure I hit world standards in no distance time.”
She added that the target for her was to reach her very best with more medals and record to her name.
“For me I am working to break the African record by the grace of God.
” He knows when it will happen all I have to do is believe Him and keep my hope alive,” said Oshiokpu who came into limelight in 2019 participating in the U18 category of the African junior Championships in Mauritius.
She followed up with another good performance at the 2023 African junior in Zambia.
