Super Eagles first choice keeper Monday missed the team’s training, an indication he may not be available for Friday’s African Cup of Nations Quarter-final clash against Angola.
Nwabali was a major casualty of the round of 16 clash against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon after he was rammed by Georges Nkoudou, who probably had the intent to hurt the Nwabali, because he previously collided with the Super Eagles number one. He was due for scan tests Monday to determine the extent of the injury
“I don’t know [if I would be fit for the next game]. I will still come back,” said Nwabali at the weekend.
Coach Jose Peseiro said he is banking on Francis Uzoho to man the post if Nwabali is not fit to play. And that is certainly a cause for concern for Nigerians fans who have been more reassured by Nwabali’s commanding presence.
