The Abia Police is detaining a man who shot his son dead because he ate the last portion of food in the kitchen.
Abia Police spokesperson ASP Maureen Chinaka said the father has been kept in custody after he was arrested by community members who were horrified by the tragic killing.
The man identified as Marcel Udeh from Umunneochi was said to have been enraged when he found out that his son had eaten the portion of food without his consent.
“He went into his room came back with a gun and shot the son point blank,” said a member of the community.
After he was arrested by members of the community, he was bound hand and foot and made him to lay next to the lifeless body of his son.
He begged the community members for mercy as he blamed the devil for provoking him into taking the action.
“The matter has been transferred to the SCID for discreet investigation and he will be charged to Court afterwards”, said DSP Chinaka.
