Olympian Peters Emmanuel Oghenejobo has been named National president of the World Taekwondo Organisation Nigerian chapter.
Grand Master Oghenejobo is a pioneer Taekwondo practitioner in Nigeria and one of the players who participated in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where Taekwondo was first admitted into the Olympics movement. Emmanuel Oghenejobo won a silver in the heavyweight category.
A letter of appointment signed by WTO president Grand Master Casey Ilsun UN Kim said: “As the National President (NP) of the World Taekwondo Organization Nigeria, Grand Master Oghenejobo is empowered to oversee, support, and manage the operations of WTO in Nigeria in the capacity of an Executive Member of the WTO HQ.
“The NP will organize a team of a few select National Vice Presidents (NVPs) as well as a National Secretary General (NSG) who will be responsible for covering the extensive management of operations of WTO Nigeria. The NP will also organize a group of respected leaders as the Board Members of WTO Nigeria.
“As the NP, Grand Master Oghenejobo will support the President of WTO in executing major decisions to advance WTO as the forefront organization in Taekwondo.”
WTO is a paternal organization of Taekwondo Pioneers, who have founded and instituted Taekwondo around the world since April 11, 1955.
It’s a coming together of Grand Masters from all world organizations that is tied of amateur sports taekwondo.
There are over 200 million active Taekwondo practitioners from 213 countries in the world, second only to soccer, and the mission is to bring them into a unified community.
