Nigerian music diva and Grammy-nominated singer, Onyinkasola Sarah Aderibigbe a.k.a Ayra Starr said her burning ambition is to be recognized as one of the biggest Afrobeats artists in the world.
Ayra Starr signed to Mavin Records received global recognition when she was nominated for the 2023 Grammy Awards and according to her while speaking during an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, she said wants to be in the big league of artists like Rihanna, Drake, Burna Boy, Beyoncé, Victoria Monét, Rema, Miley Cyrus, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler The Creator.
“My hope for Afrobeats is for it to be the biggest genre in the world. Because it deserves to be,” she said.
“Other genres of music are great, but there’s nothing like Afrobeat. Even the sad music makes you feel good. So, I want Afrobeats to be the biggest genre in the world and I would love to be one of the leading artists.”
