As preparations hots up for the third edition of the Princess Mabel Madojiemu Athletics Schools Championships, organisers are doing everything possible to have all the track and field performances electronically timed.
This is to enable the World Athletics to capture the data and the performances of the young athletes participating in the competition billed for April 25-26 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
“We have already paid the $100 fee to enable the results of the Mabel Madojiemu Athletics School  Championships appearing on the  WA website,” said coach Mutiu Oluwa, the technical coordinator of the competition.
“It is very important the athletes begin to build their profile and the only way their result can be on the WA database is for us to have electronic timing and this we are working on.
“Even the executive chairman of the Edo Sports Commission, Yusuf Alli has emphasised that we must have and electronic timing device on ground.”
Over 50 schools have registered for the competition which is open only to schools within Edo State,  and the students are eagerly waiting to run.
