A Georgia woman went on a gun rampage on a Florida interstate injuring two drivers before claiming that “God” had given her the order via the solar eclipse to open fire.
Taylon Nichelle Celestine, 22, told employees at Holmes County motel on Monday, April 8, that she had received a divine order from “God” to go on a shooting rampage in response to the total solar eclipse, even though the Sunshine State was not even close to the eclipse’s path.
Celestine was driving a purple Dodge Challenger with Georgia license plates and began shooting at other cars five miles after getting on Interstate 10 in Washington County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
She allegedly fired multiple shots at an oncoming car on the interstate. According to the agency, the car’s male driver was hit by glass fragments after a bullet broke his window and grazed his arm, as reported by the New York Post.
Highway Patrol reports that the heedless gunman, who was purportedly carrying a handgun and an assault rifle, continued traveling west on I-10 before starting to fire on another car close to the 107-mile market.
The driver was shot in the neck, according to the agency, and he was transported to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment.
Celestine kept driving until she was pulled over by highway patrol officers who had caught up to her close to the 96-mile marker. From the Challenger, the officers are said to have taken an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun.
Celestine was arrested without incident and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a firearm. She was lodged in Holmes County Jail.
The inquiry is still underway for which gun Celestine is accused of using to shoot the other drivers, as well as whether or not their acquisition was lawful.
