Music executive Paulo Okoye, has predicted that Afrobeats would soon fade out following the exorbitant prices artists charge for their shows.
Paulo who was sharing his thoughts on Instagram said the genre may soon be in the shadows just like reggae music
“Tough time for Afrobeat (A & B & C class) Artists Price themselves out of the market. Not much shows + the global economy is not laughing as well. God help us,” Paulo noted.
“2024 will be a tough year for Afrobeat!!! Apart from 2 artists this year (Burnaboy and Davido) they did a few shows, others are in trouble either they are overpriced or tickets are not selling hmmm. Let us not do what happened to Reggae musicians and reduce your prices just think. How many shows did you do this year.”
