Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said Wednesday night’s Champions League clash between his side and Bayern Munich has an unpredictable tinge as both clubs have similar characteristics.
Real Madrid are home with a 2-2 draw advantage from the first leg at the Allianz Arena, but according to the veteran coach who also worked at Bayern Munich, the German side were the better side during the first tie despite the result.
“As a club they are similar,” said the Italian-born coach
They are clubs that have a great history and a lot of success. I think we respect each other as it’s only fair that we do. We have to respect the opponent because they did very well and better than us in the first leg.
“I don’t know, to be honest. Anything could happen. We’re excited to have another spectacular night.”
However, he believes that Real Madrid have the team to deliver when it matters most.
“I believe because it’s Real Madrid, we have this squad, we’ve had this great season, and we have great fans.
“I think we’re on the good side, but I’m sure Thomas Tuchel thinks the same. Today we will enjoy it, tomorrow we will worry.”
Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is not ruling his team out of the contest saying: “The situation is now clear. A win in Madrid and on to Wembley. It’s still a 50-50 game, for me. Let’s see what happens.”
