Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) said it has been saddened by the sudden death of one of it’s members, Prof. Emmanuel Ojeme.
Ojeme, one of the refined persons in Nigeria’s athletics was said to have passed on Monday evening.
He was a representative of Nigeria Association of Physical Health Education, Recreation, Dance and Sports (NAPHER-SD) on the current AFN board. The cause of his demise was not immediately known.
“I just got calls from someone very close to him that our dear Prof. Ojeme has passed on. It was shocking to me. I am still trying to reach out to his wife and children to know exactly what happened,” said AFN president Tonobok Okowa.
“Prof. Ojeme has been a great fsther to us in the Athletics family. It is so sad his death is coming at a point when we are putting heads together on how to prepare our athletes to make a great impact at the Paris Olympics Games. We will surely miss him.”
NAPHER-SD president Professor Florence Bola Adeyanju on behalf the national executive members and members of the association worldwide expressed sorrow at the loss Prof.Ojeme.
She described the death of Late Prof. Ojeme as a colossal loss to the Nigerian sports fraternity and the continent in general prays Almighty God to give the entire family of the deceased and NAPHERSD worldwide the fortitude to bear the irreparable and irreplaceable loss.
