Princess Mabel Madojiemu is backing 13-years-old high jumper Treasure Omosivwe to become a world beater in the near future.
Omosivwe, a junior secondary school student of Jato Grammar School, Benin City was one of the noticeable talents spotted during the Princess Mabel Madijiemu Athletics Schools Championships in April. She cleared 1.55m to set a new championships record and also won in the long jump.
“She is our future high jump champion and we must do everything to help her achieve her ambition,” said Princess Madojiemu.
“She needs to be exposed to competitions regularly, that is why I have pleaded with the Edo Athletics Association to do everything they can to register her for the national championships at my own expense.”
The young athlete herself is looking forward to participating in the national trials and according to her, she is all fired up to have a taste of competing with her seniors.
“I’m grateful to Princess Mabel for encouraging me and I’m all fired up to compete.
“I don’t want to joke with this chance to do well in athletics. It is my dream to become a world champion. It would take a lot of hard work, which I am prepared with people like Princess Mabel as inspiration. I pray that I have quality training and equipment.
“After my O level exam I would love to relocate abroad where I can get world class training and equipment and also focus on my education.”
