Rangers International FC of Enugu have won the 2023/24 season of the Nigeria Premier Football League with a game to spare after a 2-0 win over visiting Bendel Insurance in Enugu on Sunday.
Kenechukwu Agu and Chidiebere Nwobodo scored in both halves of the game to give Rangers coached by Fidelis Ilechukwu their first NPFL title in 12 years.
Rangers topped the League with 67 points to book their CAF Champions League spot. They will play away to Gombe United in their last game of the season.
Remo Stars are second on the log with 62 points. They lost 2-1 to Sunshine Stars in Akure, with a brace from Chinadu Nwosu. Ahmed Akinyele pulled one back for Remo Stars; they will be at home to Katsina United on Match day 36. A win will guarantee a second finish and a continental spot.
Enyimba are close on the heels of Remo Stars with 60 points. They suffered a 2-1 loss to Sporting Lagos. Enyimba will entertain Plateau United, while Shooting Stars also gunning for a CAF Confederation Cup will tackle Sporting Lagos. Shooting Stars have 59 points after losing 2-1 away to Bayelsa United.
