Former US President Donald Trump is lucky to be alive after a bullet narrowly missed him by the whiskers in what appears to be an “assassination attempt”.
A 20-year-old man identified as Thomas Mathew Crooks suspected to have fired the shots which grazed Mr. Trump upper right ear, while he was addressing a rally in Pennsylvania, was shot dead by the secret service. Another rally goer was also hit by bullets and did not survive.
US President Joe Biden condemned the shooting saying: “There is no place in America for this kind of violence.
“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety,” he said.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: “It cannot be overstated — political violence is never acceptable.”
“My thoughts are with former President Trump, those at the event, and all Americans,” he said.
UK PM Starmer Keir: “Political violence in any form has no place in our societies.”
“I am appalled by the shocking scenes at President Trump’s rally and we send him and his family our best wishes.”
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu: “Sara and I were shocked by the apparent attack on President Trump. We pray for his safety and speedy recovery.”
Hungary Prime Minister Viktor: “My thoughts and prayers are with President @realDonaldTrump in these dark hours.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi: “I’m deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. Strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies. Wish him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, the injured, and the American people.”
