Rivers State Commissioner for Sports Barrister Chris Green said Nigerian athletes are in a buoyant mood for the Paris 2024 Olympics Games as their preparations has surpassed the average mark.
Barrister Green who paid an assessment visit on behalf of the Sports Minister John Enoh to the camp of the Nigerian team in Saarbrucken, Germany remarked that from what he has seen, Nigerian athletes would perform beyond expectations at the Games billed to start July 26 in the French capital.
“All the athletes and coaches are in fine spirits, and everyone is driven by a sense of purpose to achieve result at the Games,” said Green a former technical committee chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation.
“The preparations are excellent and there is no rancor of any sort in the camp, the athletes are happy with all the arrangements, unlike previous camping of athletes ahead a major event such as the Olympics.
“I must commend the Sports Minister John Enoh, he does not talk much but he is working to very hard to ensure that no stone is left unturned, and I am sure the athletes would reward his efforts with podium performances.”
Also speaking Bayelsa Commissioner for Sports and Nigeria Wrestling Federation president, Daniel Igali said training was going on well in the camp and he is banking on all his qualified wrestlers to do well.
“Training is going on well.
“We have six qualified wrestlers for the game and my prayer is that they would do well and give us medals,” Igali said.
