Super Falcons may have lost their opening game to Brazil in their opening group C game of the Paris 2024 Olympics, but for midfielder Deborah Abiodun it was a moment of joy at meeting Marta Vieira da Silva.
Abiodun at the end of the game the Super Falcons came out smoking, but failed to take their chances, walked into the warm embrace of the Brazilian women’s football legend who is appearing in her sixth Olympics Games.
“Last night, I had the honour of chatting with the one and only @martavieiras10, whose legacy has inspired generations.
“Sharing wisdom, experiences and smiles with such an icon is truly unforgettable. Here’s to chasing dreams and making history” Abiodun shared on X.
Marta, 38, holds the record of the only player that has scored in five different world cups and a six-time winner of the FIFA best player awards. She is looking to win the Olympics gold that has eluded her and her country in their history of participating in the Olympics.
