Edo Queens are continuing their match into the history books by booking their place in the final of the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers on-going in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Nigeria Women Football League first time champions will play Ainonvi of Benin Republic in the final game billed for Friday.
Edo State Sports Commission executive chairman Mr. Yusuf Alli left Wednesday for Abidjan with more support from the Edo State governor for the team.
“The team has done very well winning all their games so far in the qualifiers and we are confident they will win the final game against the Benin Republic side.
“They have the solid backing of Governor Godwin Obaseki, and the girls are highly motivated,” said Alli. 
In the group stages, Edo Queens beat Hasacas Ladies 3-0, the Ghanaian side were runners up in the 2021 CAF Women Champions League, before subduing host club Inter D’Abidjan with 2-1 win in the semi-final Tuesday.
Suliat Abideen and Blessing Illivieda found the net for Edo Queens, while Adjoua Edwige Sandrine Niamien’s goal for the Ivorian side set up a nervy finish.
Ainonvi FC and Edo Queens will not only be vying for the WAFU B trophy but also a coveted spot in the prestigious CAF Women’s Champions League, a first-ever achievement for both clubs.
