Victor Boniface will miss one DFB Cup game and pay a fine of €25,000 (about N43.8m) after he was disciplined by the German Football Association.
Boniface was docked for raising his left middle finger at opposing players during last Saturday’s German Supercup clash between his Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart in which he scored in the 11 minute.
Boniface is available for selection on Friday evening when defending champions Bayer Leverkusen take on Borussia Mönchengladbach in their Bundesliga opener.
Bayer Leverkusen did not object to the sanctions.
Boniface had a breakout 2023-2024 campaign, registering 31 goal involvements (21 goals, 10 assists) in 34 all-competition appearances as Bayer Leverkusen won the domestic double.
