The boys basketball contest of the National Youth Games has been cancelled after only three teams survived the age screening exercise.
According to basketball rules seven teams must be present to make it a medal contest.
“It’s only three teams that scaled the screening exercise and so there wouldn’t be no competition, said a games official.
Speaking on the development Lagos State Sports Commission to official Mr. Travii Nunayon said the screening exercise has been left to the whims of officials rather to adhere to documentary evidence.
He added that Sports Ministry owners of the NYG is allowing the NYG to be rubbished.
“The National Identification Number is what they asked athletes to bring and in some cases like Lagos did not fly.
“Everything is clearly stated so why are they not accepting it?”
