Nigeria Football Federation said Monday negotiations with German coach Winifried Schafer to coach the Super Eagles is not in the works.
Reports in several online and regular media suggested that the German who won the African Cup of Nations with Cameroon in 2002 will be in Nigeria this week to hold talks with the NFF
“There’s nothing of such happening,” said NFF director of communications Ademola Olajire.
“It’s another made up news.”
In August the NFF announced that it has concluded negotiations with Bruno Labbadia for him to lead the Super Eagles, but it was a deal that didn’t see the light of the day. The twice capped German international denied reaching an agreement with the NFF.
NFF technical director Austin Eguavoen took temporary charge of the Super Eagles for this month’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
The Super Eagles will continue their AFCON qualifying campaign next month with a double header against Libya
