Victor Boniface nicked in a goal to hand Bayer Leverkusen victory in their Champions League tie against AC Milan Tuesday night, but his manager Xabi Alonso said his striker still has to do more, urging him to raise his game to the level of Didier Drogba.
It was Boniface first Champions League goal.
“He (Boniface) has many qualities that can make him as strong as Drogba. Drogba was strong and created problems for defenders, ” Alonso told Oma Sports.
“He needs to create his own qualities. He is good with the ball in short spaces; he likes to be around the box.
“Sometimes he needs to be around the box. Sometimes he needs to be more aggressive to attack the box, like today that he scored a goal that was disallowed.
“But it is a process; we need to help him. We push him and sometimes to take better decisions when the space is outside.”
