Nigeria is aiming to host the Confederation of African Athletics Zone two U-18 and U20 Championship billed for next year.
CAA zone two president Tonobok Okowa told FIRST ZEALMEDIACAST BLOG, that the Zone is looking at the age group competition because it will help all the countries in the West Sub Region to prepare effectively for the African Youth Championship for Madagascar.
“The bidding process and time has not yet been set, we are still consulting but a number of countries are showing interest in hosting the competition next year and when the time and decision is made, you will be informed.
“We are forward looking, and you know that the region is blessed with talented young athletes that needs competitions like this. Staging a youth Championship will enhance their growth,” Okowa, who is also the Vice President of the Confederation of African Athletics explained.
The Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State and the MKO Abiola stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta Ogun State are two venues being considered to host the competition.
