The Federal Government of President Bola Tinubu has given the go ahead for the construction of an airstrip at the Canaanland headquarters of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, in Ota, Ogun State.
Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Winners Chapel, who owns a private jet said building the airstrip was part of his broader goal to improve services and make the church’s facilities more accessible for worshippers and visitors, particularly during large events such as Shiloh, the church’s annual convention, which draws thousands of attendees from across the globe.
The project will be privately funded by the church, emphasizing its commitment to self-reliance and economic development. Besides improving transportation, it is expected to generate jobs during the construction and operational phases, contributing positively to the local economy.
While the exact timeline for the airstrip’s construction has not been disclosed, the church leadership has promised a swift execution of the project, adhering to aviation standards to ensure safety and efficiency. This development marks another step in the church’s ongoing efforts to enhance the worship experience for its members and visitors.
Canaanland already houses significant infrastructure, including Covenant University, secondary schools, a bakery, and a water processing plant, which serve both the congregation and the surrounding community.
