Victor Boniface is in good shape to play Saturday’s Bundlesliga clash between his club Bayer Leverkusen and Eintratch Frankfurt after his Libyan ordeal with the Super Eagles.
His manager Xabi Alonso said the striker is ready to play after he trained with squad ahead of the game.
“We have spoken,” Alonso was quoted by Frankfurter Allgemeine.
“What happened is not pleasant. But he [Boniface] has had enough time to train.”
Boniface was among the Super Eagles players that had to endure a 15 hours standoff with the Libyan authority when they arrive the North African country for the second leg Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The Super Super Eagles were headed for Benghazi a few minutes drive from Beine venue of match billed last Tuesday, but their plane was diverted to another airport hardly in use when they entered Libya airspace on Sunday. They were stranded at the airport without food and water. The Nigeria Football Federation evacuated the team on Monday.
CAF cancelled the match on Tuesday, referring the matter to its disciplinary committee with a warning to punish violators of its rules.
