Transgender and social media influencer Idris Okuneye a.k.a Bobrisky was arrested by Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) agents while trying to flee the country.
Bobrisky’s nemesis Martins Otse a.k.a VeryDarkMan made the disclosure in a social media post Monday. He alleged that Bobrisky was trying to evade ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives over the viral leaked audio recordings in which Bobrisky allegedly admitted to bribing officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to avoid imprisonment.
The recordings also implicated Bobrisky in a money laundering case that was allegedly dropped by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“Bobrisky was arrested this morning at the Seme border while trying to enter Benin Republic to escape the current investigation by the House of Reps.
“He is allegedly being held by Nigerian immigration…Let’s wait for Bob to debunk this” Verydarkman wrote his social media page.
Meanwhile, a Federal Government panel constituted to probe bribery allegations that Bobrisky didn’t spend time in jail for his naira abuse sentence, said there was no evidence to prove Bobrisky was kept in a luxury apartment.
A member of the panel, Uju Agomoh, who read the initial report of the probe at the Ministry of Interior on Monday, said the panel “did not find any evidence thus far that suggested that Mr. Okuneye slept outside the custodial centre during the period of his imprisonment, which was from 12th April 2024 to the 5th August 2024, which is a six-month correctional sentence with the usual remission applicable”.
“The panel also found that Mr. Okuneye Idris enjoyed several privileges while in custody, both at the Medium Security and the Maximum Security Custodial Centres, which include, especially the following: furnished single cells, humidifier, lots of visits by his family members and friends as he desired, self-feeding, designated inmates to run errands for him, access to fridge and television, and possibly access to his phone,” Agomoh said.
